ICTI Annual General Meeting Held in Madrid
ICTI’s 32nd Annual General Meeting was held in Madrid on 29-30 May, with the Spanish Toy Association (Asociación Espaňola de Fabricantes de Juguetes, AEFJ) serving as host.
In his Report, ICTI President T.S. Wong, from Hong Kong, provided an update on the three major ICTI programs currently underway: the ICTI CARE Process, led by Alan Hassenfeld and Christian Ewert; the Year-Round Sales program, led by Arnie Rubin from the US Toy Industry Association; and the Global Issues program, led by Beverly Jenkin from the Australian Toy Association. He commended all three, and their teams, for the excellent progress made in the past year. Mr. Wong also spoke of the need to expand ICTI membership further into Latin America (beyond Brazil and Mexico) and thanked ICTI’s Ambassador to Latin America, Synesio Batista da Costa, head of the Brazilian Toy Association (ABRINQ), for reaching out to associations in Uruguay, Paraguay, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Venezuela. The event was held at the Hotel Miguel Angel, with side trips to Segovia and Toledo. At the opening dinner, the members of the ICTI CARE Foundation Governance Board, who had just finished a meeting that was also in Madrid, joined the ICTI delegates at their welcoming reception. During the course of the meeting, the annual ICTI Award, the Windmill, was made to Radio Nacional Española (RNE), for its campaign “Un juguete, una illusion” (“One toy, one joy”). (See: ICTI's Annual Award goes to Radio Nacional de España for its "Un Juguete, una ilusión" Campaign) It was agreed that the next ICTI annual general meeting will be held in San Francisco in May 2007.
