Don Salvador Miró Sanjuán

Don Salvador Miró Sanjuán, President of the Spanish Association of Toy Manufacturers (AEFJ), died on Christmas Day. He was 63, married and the father of three children. S. Miro

Salvador Miró had been a strong supporter of ICTI and was in fact the host of a very successful ICTI annual meeting in Madrid in May of last year. All of his friends in ICTI, around the world, will miss him.

Born in the toy-industry based town of Ibi, in Spain, Miró was only sixteen when he began working in the Rico factory, a leading Spanish exporter of toys. From that beginning he grew to become a leader of the toy industry in Spain, heading the Spanish toy association since 1991.

For years he selflessly devoted time and energy to the international toy industry, representing it before the highest national and international authorities and organisations. He was vice president of ICTI, president for six years of the International Toy Fair of Valencia; a board member of the European Federation of Toy Industries (TIE) and vice president of the industry’s Technological Institute. He was also a founding board member of the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR). He was also president of the Growth through Play Foundation.

Among other public offices, he served two terms as Mayor of Ibi; was a consultant on tourism for Valencia, and a Vice President of the Alicante Provincial Council.
