T.S. Wong Honored at Hong Kong Toy Council (HKTC) Annual Dinner

TS Wong, President of ICTI The guest-of-honor at this year’s Hong Kong Toy Council annual dinner was T. S. Wong, President of ICTI and Honorary President of the HKTC. The event was held on January 8 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel and attended by 440 guests. In his welcoming remarks, the Chairman of the HKTC, Lawrence Chan, paid tribute to T.S. Wong’s thirty-five years of dedication to the toy industry. He also spoke about the challenges the Council has faced over the past year, including the continuing power and labor shortages in Southern China, the implications of the Government’s announcement of a minimum wage increase for workers in Shenzhen and the Guangdong province, the ICTI CARE Process, and WEEE & RoHS seminars organized to help members comply with the new EU green directives. Alan Hassenfeld, Co-Chairman of the ICTI CARE Foundation, recognized Mr. Wong for his vision, passion and contributions toward unity within the global toy industry. He said that he had strengthened ICTI's position as a global leader. Mr. Wong spoke of the great honor, pride and enjoyment that working with the industry’s leaders has afforded him. He commented on the industry’s ability to grow and adapt to meet changing market demands in the past, and identified key questions that need to be addressed to ensure it will have a healthy future. “ICTI is a platform for our industry to share global challenges and to find ways to turn these challenges into opportunities,” he stated. Mr. Wong also highlighted the fact that ICTI will facilitate a toy CEO Roundtable this June at its 33rd Annual Meeting. Mr. CK Yeung, Vice-Chairman of the HKTC, delivered concluding remarks.
